Timber |
Hi! My name is Timber. Left at a shelter, I sadly waited and waited for a new family to find me. Sadly no one came, but thankfully my picture and story made it to my new friends at SCSR before my time was up. Next thing I know, I was on a transport on my way to Colorado and on to a new life. And now that you’ve found me – hopefully I will find my way into your heart and home.
I am a fun-loving, playful young man. I get along great with other dogs, but cats are a little too interesting (and fast!). I am affectionate and very smart. I have more to learn and am looking for a patient guardian to help see me through life – we’ll handle all the good and the occasional bad, together – OK? Please apply today! (Timber: German Shepherd Mix, Male, Black, Tan and White, DOB 09/08), ~80 lbs.)

Juliet |
Juliet Update: Our darling Juliet had a sudden, extreme pressure change in her eyes due to cataracts and glaucoma and underwent surgery to remove both eyes. Since she was blind, the removal of her eyes was an easy decision since it has now relieved her from a lot of discomfort. It was a pretty involved surgery and recovery was a little slow, but she is doing a lot better. That cone became her favorite weapon of choice! We need your help however to help raise the funds for her surgery which totaled around $950.00. Please consider a donation today! Every dollar adds up, so no gift is too small and every penny is appreciated. Juliet offers big pittie kisses and a wicked wag of her tail – thanks for your kindness and generosity.
Hi! My name is Juliet! Have you ever heard of something called BSL or Breed Specific Legislation? Well to me it meant that I lost my family, my home and everything that made me feel safe and comfortable. I had already been saved from a life of being over bred -can you believe they sold my puppies when so many die in shelters? Then I found a safe place to lay my head and it was decided that I should be BANNED and face certain death in a shelter just for being me. What was my crime? Nothing! Was I still found guilty even though I had done nothing wrong? Yes! Did I find myself alone on a shelter’s concrete floor waiting for my “euthanasia date?” Sadly, yes! That was until SCSR stepped up to give me another reprieve…they couldn’t resist such a sweet, loving face. B.S. Legislation is what they called it and I made my way to Colorado to my life of Happily-Ever-After.
You might think that my challenges ended at the shelter. I do face two more…1) being adopted and 2) being adopted in spite of being blind! I know that might seem like an overwhelming challenge but you would be surprised how quickly I adapt to my new surroundings. I am blessed with the joyful spirit and stubborn determination of a pit bull so I know I will be OK. I get along great with other dogs after proper introductions. I can’t get enough of cuddle time on the couch with my foster parents. Are you ready to share your life with a special companion like me? Please apply today! (Juliet: American Pit Bull Terrier, Female, Red and White, 45 lbs., DOB ~10/04, Special Needs: BLIND) |

Pippa |
Hi! My name is Pippa. Even though I came to rescue very scared, I am coming out of my shell a little more each day. At first I didn’t like to be touched, probably due to my bad past, but now that I have discovered that people love me, I really like to have my ears rubbed. I am very smart. I already know how to sit and lay down. My favorite thing to do after a long day is play a gymnast on the floor by attempting somersaults to get just the right angle for a belly rub…Maybe that is why my foster family calls me their silly girl. I am looking for a family who likes to laugh and play…Is that you? (Pippa: German Shepherd, Female, White, DOB ~12/04, 65 lbs.) |

Dansby |
Hi! My name is Dansby. For those of you who visit the SCSR website often, you might recognize my name – but I look a lot different now that I have grown up a bit. For those not familiar with me, I came from a high kill shelter as a puppy and fought and survived parvo shortly after I arrived in Colorado. I am a survivor…and let’s not forget handsome. Life has taken a twist for me and I am back looking for my forever family. Diagnosed with “bad hips,” I was returned to SCSR. I am “defective” I guess…but thankfully my old friends at SCSR don’t see me that way. They see the loving and sweet young man I have become and just like when I battled parvo, they are by my side every step of the way.
Now I am sure you are wondering…”Bad hips…? What does that mean? How bad? What does his future hold?” All good questions that no one has exact answers for yet. Since I am still growing, my body is changing and the doctor’s say that time will only tell. For now, I jump, play and wrestle with the best of them. I might not run with the grace of a stallion…it’s more like the hop of a bunny, but is love about style points? My forever family will take me as I am, love me because they love me, not because of what any xray shows. And we will grow together and handle the future when it comes. My foster family will be happy to talk to you about just how wonderful I am and fill you in on all the details, so just email, call or submit an application. I can’t wait to find you – we have a lot of living to do and memories to make. I’ll see you soon…(Dansby: German Shepherd, Male, Black and Tan, DOB ~12/08, 65 lbs.) |

Mette |
Hi! My name is Mette. The most adorable little girl if I do say so myself. Other words that describe me are sweet, affectionate and silly (those came from my foster mom). Just a perfect kid that found herself part of this imperfect world of pain and suffering.

Please consider a donation to Mette’s care. These tough economic times have taken a toll on all of us, but especially on homeless pets – the voiceless victims. We need your support to make Mette’s recovery possible. To see her well, to see her run without pain, to see joy erase all memories of her suffering. Your generosity is greatly appreciated. |

Johnny Cash |
Hi! My name is Johnny Cash. The man in white…the big man in white. Sometimes life doesn’t turn out the way you expect. One day you are home, safe and loved. And then, like in my case, you find yourself walking into a shelter – and not walking out with those you thought would always be there for you. I guess I wasn’t totally out of luck since I was transferred to rescue and on to another chance at someone to call my own.
Did I mention I am big? I am big in affection, looks and love…oh yes, and in pounds so I am on a little diet. I get along great with other dogs, but please no kitties. I know basic commands and have terrific house manners. What’s missing from my life? Well, at present it is a second helping at dinner and MOST importantly…you. Will you be mine? I can’t wait to meet you (Johnny Cash: German Shepherd, Male, White, DOB ~05/06, 145 lbs. and loosing)

Luna |
- ADOPTION PENDING -
Hi! My name is Luna. I am fairly new to rescue and already my foster family has great things to say about me. I am a very loving girl who loves to give kisses, have my belly rubbed and be as close to my people as possible. I get along well with other dogs and am learning to play and have fun. I know some basic obedience and I am working hard on my house manners so I can be a welcome addition to a new family very soon.
Abandoned by my last family when I had a seizure, I am now on the look out for a family that believes that you take the good and the bad with any loved family member. What is my medical prognosis? I am on a low dose of medication that is very reasonable in cost and will need to periodically have my blood evaluated for the medications effectiveness. I can live a long, happy life on the right medications with the right loving guardian. My foster family can give you more information and will be happy to share with you just how perfect I am despite my medical needs. I can’t wait to find a real and forever family…could that be you?? (Luna: German Shepherd/Siberian Husky Mix, Female, White with Some Grey, DOB 02/06, 70 lbs.) |

Lilli |
Hi! My name is Lilli. I came into rescue very shy and scared. Abandoned by my previous owner, I didn’t understand what this new world of rescue was all about. Having lived with the same person for me entire life, all the newness was a bit overwhelming. Now that I am settled in, I have learned that people can be awesome – they like to play, give me treats and best of all, seem to be OK with cuddling whenever my little heart desires. They are just so proud of how far I have come that they can’t resist my cute face.
Now don’t get me wrong, I am still a little shy in new situations, but if you give me a chance to get to know you, you will wonder how you could have ever lived without perfect me. I love other dogs and kitties are OK to. I know basic commands but would love to blossom even more with my new guardians in a training class. Looking for a super-duper snuggle bug? Then I am the gal for you. Only the most awesome need apply! (Lilli: German Shepherd, Female, White, DOB ~06/05, 65 lbs.) |

Henni |
Hi! My name is Henni. When my family moved, they didn’t make plans to include me. Instead of joining them for a new beginning, I was dumped at a shelter and faced a sad fate. Thankfully, my picture and story made its way West and SCSR opened their moving arms. Now I am ready for a family that will truly cherish me as a part of the family.
I am wonderfully sweet and affectionate. I can’t get enough love from my foster family. I was never taught to share, so I would need to join a family where I am the only pet. Who wants to share anyway – this way I can be 110% devoted to just you. I know basic manners and am eager to please. Ready for a terrific addition to your family? You’ve found her – apply today!!! (Henni: German Shepherd, Female, White, DOB ~02/03, 55 lbs |

Jaeger |
Hi! My name is Jaeger. And guess what…?!? Somebody loves me! Now why you might think that is an obvious statement, for me it’s a whole new feeling. For the first time in my short life I really feel loved. My foster family shows me love with their words and with their actions. You see before I came to Colorado, I lived chained in a backyard where no one really cared much about me. Lucky, an outreach group saw my plight and stepped in to help me.
Now in loving hands, I am going to blossom and become the dog I am meant to be. I am currently enrolled in a training class and I am learning new stuff everyday. I am such a strong and loving spirit that my new family will be so lucky to have me in their lives. I would do best in a household with no other pets or a really active dog friend as I can be a bit much for someone not my speed. Only those with lots of love to give need apply...are you that lucky family? (Jaeger: German Shepherd, Male, White, DOB 11/07, 65 lbs.) |

UPDATE: I am all better! Off of cage rest and 110% recovered from my heartworm treatment. I now just need a family - where are you? I am a mature girl who has a lot of love to give. I would prefer not to share however so I must be the only dog, please. But who needs anyone else but little 'ol adorable me!?! Apply today - I can't wait to love you!
+ + + + + + +
Hi! My name is Zelda...but my friends call me Z-Diddy (no really...I love that name!). Rescued in Missouri, I joined the rescue caravan and made my way West and closer to a loving family to adore me. I have not had an easy life. One look into my eyes and you can tell I have endured a lot. The stories I could tell. I arrived in Colorado heartworm positive and suffering from pneumonia. I am now under going treatment and am feeling better every day.
My prognosis for recovery from the heartworm (Stage 2) is great so I am now looking forward to my future. I am so grateful to my new rescue family. They are helping me heal - both physically and mentally. I now know what unconditional love feels like...and it feels good. I would do best in a quiet household where I can continue to grow old with dignity and shower my new guardian with lots of love. Are you that special person? Am I the girl for you? Then submit your application today! We'll be so lucky to have each other. (Zelda: Female, German Shepherd/Shiba/Jindo Mix, White, DOB ~01/00, ~45 lbs.)
NOTE: Z-Diddy will have her final heartworm treatment on May 11 and will be available for adoption around June 15 (after 30 days of cage rest). If she's not the girl for you, perhaps you would consider a donation for her heartworm treatments. The treatment is expensive and we would appreciate your contribution to Z-Diddy's long and happy future. Thanks for your consideration. Check back for updates on Diddy's recovery. |
